1 "나의 종을 보아라. 그는 내가 붙들어 주는 사람이다. 내가 택한 사람, 내가 마음으로 기뻐하는 사람이다. 내가 그에게 나의 영을 주었으니, 그가 뭇 민족에게 공의를 베풀 것이다.
2 그는 소리 치거나 목소리를 높이지 않으며, 거리에서는 그 소리가 들리지 않게 할 것이다.
3 그는 상한 갈대를 꺾지 않으며, 꺼져 가는 등불을 끄지 않으며, 진리로 공의를 베풀 것이다.
4 그는 쇠하지 않으며, 낙담하지 않으며, 끝내 세상에 공의를 세울 것이니, 먼 나라에서도 그의 가르침을 받기를 간절히 기다릴 것이다."
“Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations. He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street; a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice. He will not grow faint or be discouraged till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his law.”
